Living in the Gap

by stugray on July 15, 2009

I read a really great post today from Caryn Clark about Patience. It reminded me of a concept I had heard before, but have been reminded of recently by Gary Smalley.

It’s The Gap. Alot of times, its where I live. I have these Great Expectations for my life, my career, my marriage, my parenting, my (you name it I have expectations)…and then the reality of where all of these things really are.

Sometimes my expectations are way out there, sometimes they are closer to reality. But many times I am living in the Gap.

Between what my expectations are, and the current reality.

Going back to Caryn’s Post – she speaks of selling her car…and I went, Wow, she’s living and managing the gap. Wanting to get her car sold on the Expectations side, but that not be the reality just yet. The Gap.

The cool thing is we can get a great reminder of Patience while she is having her “Gap” Experience.

It’s funny. Most things I learn, have learned or are STILL LEARNING(!!) have come from Gap Experiences. How to communicate better, how to love better, to enjoy more, to be more patient, have more peace about situations, deal with friends, clients and family in a more healthy and not so aggressive manner.

I could keep going. But I’ll save you the time.

Thanks for your insight today Caryn!! Get that car sold!!
