How To Build Your Voice Over Network in the First 5 Seconds

by stugray on October 31, 2007

clock in the corner

I just read a great article from RainToday.com

The “Building Your Network “principle is simple.

Say something in the first couple seconds of meeting someone. At a bar, in the elevator, at a social networking gathering…etc. If you don’t , it is much more difficult to initiate that conversation later (after you both have been sitting there or standing there in silence).

My natural tendency is not this technique!

But WOW – what a difference it could make in my life and business. Being someone who does voice over work, it could revolutionize my business!

Thanks Ilise for your article!

Do you have sure fire ways to grow your network?

I would love to hear!

Stu,

That’s a great tip! You can never make too many connections :)

As you are a voice talent and carry your product with you wherever you go, it would be very easy to give a quick demo (literally, recite in person, not give a CD) and watch for the reaction immediately.

Let me know how your experimentation with that goes!

Stu,

I agree with Stephanie. This is a really solid tip. And like you, I’m not great at initiating conversations right away upon meeting someone; but I can see how valuable it will be to put this into practice.

Be well,
Bob
